ASUU says it would review the new proposal in 24 hours.
The meeting was expected to lead to the call off of the strike but apparently ended without meeting that objective.
The union says it is not optimistic of the outcome of the meeting.
Since April, three Nigerian universities have been in the spotlight, after their lecturers got involved in sexual harassment scandals.
It is the third time both sides are meeting over the strike by the teachers.
ASUU has been on a nationwide strike since August 13.
