A Boko Haram suspect and his pregnant wife were Monday night summarily executed by the joint military task force in Hotoro quarters, Kano.
Eyewitnesses said Uzairu Abba Abdullahi , a 2002 Bayero University Mass Communication graduate, and his pregnant wife, were killed during a shootout with the security team at about midnight.

The security team had stormed the area following a tip-off that members of the deadly terrorist sect were living in the area.
Late Uzairu, allegedly on sighting members of the security opened fire at them in a bid to scare, thus incurring a retaliation from the security team. The shots lasted several minutes, but Uzairu, 32, and his wife died in the fracas.

Both the police and the army could neither confirm nor deny the killings, neither could they confirm the raid on Hotoro quarters. But late Uzairu’s cousin, Ali Abdullahi, confirmed the incident to reporters.
He argued his cousin had opened fire to scare the intruders following the heightened security threat in the city after the Friday deadly Boko Haram attacks in Kano State, in which over 100 people were killed.
“Uzairu was an easy going person and relate well with his neighbours and everybody,” Mr. Abdulahi said. “The incident which led to his death was very unfortunate.”
Mr. Abdulahi , said he was saddened even the more by the disappearance of his cousin’s body, adding that efforts to recover his corpse and his wife’s in all the hospitals they visited proved abortive.
Meanwhile, in another section of the city, the Kalebawa village, along Kano-Danbatta road, about 50 unclaimed bodies of victims of the Friday serial attacks were buried in a mass grave.
The corpses were taken from Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital mortuary where they have been deposited since the attack. A source said the bodies were decomposing and morgue attendants assisted to bury them.
Identified bodies however remained in the mortuary waiting to be claimed, the source said.
The city of Kano remand unstable through Tuesday as there were eyewitness reports of bomb explosion and gun battles in Sheka, Kumbotso local government area.
The attack followed claims by the police that it had arrested ten vehicles heavily loaded with bombs around the city.
