President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Basheer Lado, his special adviser on National Assembly Matters (Senate), on his 60th birthday on 16 October.
The president described Mr Lado, a former senator, as a dependable public servant and accomplished legislator who served in the Senate for four years before becoming his liaison officer in the National Assembly’s Upper Chamber.

President Tinubu said Mr Lado’s experience in lawmaking and public administration has continued to benefit the nation, particularly by fostering cordial relations between the Executive and the Senate.
The presidential aide represented Kano Central Senatorial District in the 7th National Assembly from 2011 to 2015. In the Senate, he served as vice chairman of the Senate Committee on Works.

President Tinubu remarked: “In the several capacities he has found himself, Senator Lado has been very impactful. As Senator, Lado facilitated the Kundila Bridge, popularly known as Gadar Lado, among other projects for his constituents in Kano.
“As Federal Commissioner at the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons and as Director-General of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), Lado helped protect vulnerable Nigerians, confronting human trafficking and advancing the welfare and rehabilitation of displaced persons.

“His humanitarian gesture is further reflected in his Ladon Alheri Foundation, particularly in education, healthcare, women’s economic empowerment, rural water supply and support for disadvantaged communities.
