“The commencement of unconditional dealings in the Airtel Money shares on the London Stock Exchange is expected to occur at 8.00 a.m. on 14 October 2026,” Airtel Africa stated.

It further noted that Airtel Money’s admission to the equity shares (commercial companies) category of the Official List of the FCA and to trading on the Main Market for listed securities of the London Stock Exchange will also occur on the same date.

Earlier this month, Airtel Money set its initial public offering (IPO) price at £1.96 per share, targeting a market capitalisation of $7 billion at admission.

It also announced a proposal to sell 270 million shares via a secondary share sale to raise around $703 million, making the IPO the biggest London listing since Fermi Inc, a Texas-based speciality energy infrastructure and real estate development company, listed its shares last September.

Airtel Africa, the parent, is retaining a majority stake of roughly 78 per cent. Institutional shareholders in the fintech include the Qatari Sovereign Wealth Fund, Mastercard, Chimetech and The Rise Fund II Aurora.

Airtel Africa noted in the Friday statement that it “is not selling existing Airtel Money shares in the offer and is expected to remain a long-term strategic shareholder and to support Airtel Money’s next phase of development as an independently listed business.”

Airtel Money is expected to have a free float – the portion of a company’s outstanding shares that is readily available for trade on the open market – of around 16.5 per cent following the listing.

Airtel Money shares fell below their IPO price on their LSE debut on Friday, easing to £1.93 per share in early trade after briefly climbing to £2.

The company provides fintech services, including transfers, digital banking, and bill payments across thirteen African countries, including Nigeria, Tanzania, and Kenya.
