That Enugu is not among the Nigerian areas currently subjected to the UK’s major against all travel or against all but essential travel restrictions totaling thirty states and FCT, represents a direct function and reflection of how this administration has projected and focused the image of our dear Enugu State on the economic prosperity searchlights and map of of the world.
Although the UK may not have formally published a *safest states ranking*, but Enugu’s favourable position within the advisory represents an important international signal of its improved security environment.
It’s therefore worthy to highlight that with the UK latest report, together with different verifiable and practical data already on ground from reputable organisations, it’s obvious that Enugu enjoys the rare status of the ‘safest state in Nigeria’.
And the economic implications are enormous. With the security substantially consolidated and strengthened under an impressive and innovative security architecture, Governor Mbah has been able to pursue massive road construction, industrial revival, aviation development, affordable CNG mass transportation, Smart Green Schools, healthcare expansion, the International Conference Centre, Enugu Air, the Enugu International Hospital and other strategic projects without the crippling uncertainty that insecurity creates.
The growing international confidence in Enugu has therefore reinforced the state’s potential and capability in attracting greater domestic and foreign direct investment, expansion tourism and hospitality, creation of massive employment, increased commercial activities and the establishment of itself as Nigeria’s most attractive destinations for business and opportunity, as recently witnessed with Enugu now surpassing Lagos in internally generated revenue (IGR).
This worthy development drive is also a reflection of Governor Mbah’s distinctive intellectual approach to governance, with a clear understanding that security is the first infrastructure of economic development.
From restoring peace to unlocking investment and transforming infrastructure, this administration is consistently repositioning Enugu from a consumption oriented economy towards a more productive, competitive and globally focused state.
The latest international security assessment is also another indication that the trajectory is changing and that Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah is increasingly emerging as a global leader whose achievement has been confirmed by the superpowers of the world.
