The match was evenly balanced for much of the game, as both teams showed determination and discipline in defence. Colombia enjoyed more possession and looked more dangerous going forward, while DR Congo relied on quick counter-attacks and a compact defensive shape to frustrate their opponents.
The first half ended scoreless, as both sides struggled to create clear scoring chances. Colombia pushed forward through Juan Quintero and their attacking players, but DR Congo’s defenders remained solid and cleared every danger that came their way.

As the second half progressed, Colombia increased the pressure and eventually found the breakthrough. In the 76th minute, Quintero delivered a precise pass to Daniel Munoz, who made no mistake in putting the ball into the net to give Colombia the lead.
The goal lifted the South Americans and forced DR Congo to attack in search of an equaliser. The African side showed great fighting spirit and committed more players forward, but Colombia’s defence remained organised and protected their advantage until the final whistle.
The match also produced several tough challenges, with two players from Colombia—Jhon Lucumí and Jefferson Lerma—and one from the DR Congo, Charles Pickel, receiving yellow cards for fouls and unsporting behaviour.
