Residents of Gonin Gora blocked the Abuja-Kaduna highway following an attack on the community by bandits.

Kaduna state has witnessed series of religious and ethnic crisis in the past.

"Road users are strictly warned NOT to show compliance with any checkpoint on these routes at this time."

The gunmen attacked the community at about 9:30 p.m. targetting a ceremony being held there.

The night-time curfew in Kasuwan Magani and Kujama is to continue until further notice.

Police say 18 suspects had been arrested.

The suspects are also accused of terrorizing residents

"the Council warned those involved to desist or face the full weight of the law."
