Janet Agbede replaces Ene Okon who was redeployed to Abuja in the wake of last Saturday’s killing in the state.
The Commissioner of Police in Abia State, Ene Okon, confirmed the incident.
The suspect was also killed during the gun-battle that ensued.
The deceased, Chimaobi Uzoukwa, was reportedly killed for allegedly refusing to part with N100 bribe.
The police say kidnapping has been on the rise in the state.
The police say three other persons who sustained injuries in the incident are receiving treatment in the hospital.
