With the international break over, Nigerian players were over the weekend back in action for their respective clubs across the globe.
Indeed it was a good weekend particularly for Nigerian strikers who were on target in Spain, Russia, Denmark and other countries across the world.
From the lot, it is Villarreal of Spain forward Ikechukwu Uche that beat other tough oppositions to scoop the PREMIUM TIMES’ star of the week accolade.
The Villarreal forward, who netted twice on Sunday night in the game against Almeria, has now reached a milestone of 100 goals in Spain and the Nigerian striker was on social media, twitter to celebrate his latest milestone achievement.
Great game last night..very proud to have scored my 100th goal in spain.Just want to thank everyone for the support. pic.twitter.com/5OPJYccAHB

Aside Ik Uche, another Nigerian, Ramon Azeez, was also on parade in the La Liga starring for Almeria. Azeez got a yellow card as his team were beaten 2-0 by IK Uche’s Villarreal.
Away to Russia, another top Nigerian who hugged the headlines over the weekend was Ahmed Musa who netted a brace for his club CSKA Moscow in their 6-0 bashing of Kuban Kransador.
Musa also provided an assist for Ivory Coast’s Seydou Doumbia who also netted twice. Just days earlier when he celebrated his birthday, Musa had also found the back of the net twice in Super Eagles’ 3-1 win against Sudan.
Victor Moses who could not feature for the Super Eagles in crucial games against Sudan was on parade for Stoke City in their 2-1 victory against Swansea on Sunday.
The Nigerian forward is now a subject of controversy as he has been badly hit with criticisms that the penalty he got for his team was a mere dive and that he was not badly tackled as he made the referee believe.
Moses was replaced in the 73rd minute by Ousama Assaidi and there are possibilities he could be investigated
In the Championship, Odion Ighalo scored for Watford in their 3-0 home win against Sheffield Wednesday.
The goal scored by the former Flying Eagles skipper in the 21st minute was his second goal in seven matches since arriving from La Liga’s Granada.
Other Nigerian players in England that were active for the Super Eagles in games against Sudan were in a rested by their team, they include Sone Aluko whose Hull City team gave Arsenal a scare at the Emirates. John Obi Mikel and Kenneth Omeruo were also missing in action for Chelsea and Middlesbrough respectively.
The magic touch of goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama seem to have deserted him as the Nigerian shot stopper failed to prevent his side (Lille) from falling at home as they lost 2-1 to Guingamp.
The two goals conceded by Enyeama was his seventh in 10 appearances for Lille in Ligue 1 in the current campaign. Enyeama had conceded far less at this time of last season
Elderson Echiejile (AS Monaco): Super Eagles left-back Elderson Echiejile was once again left out of Monaco’s squad in their 2-0 win against Evian. Echiejile has only featured once this season for Monaco since his move from Sporting Braga thus raising questions on why he continually gets invites to the national team.
While his chances of playing for Nigeria again looks bleak, Bartholomew Ogbeche has been making the best of the opportunity availed him in the Dutch League and he was on target for FC Cambuur in their 2-2 draw at home to Heerenveen in the Dutch Eredivisie.
Ogbeche has score 6 goals in nine appearances this season.
Abiola Dauda scored and provided an assist in Vitesse’s 4-1 away win against Willem II in the Dutch topflight while providing an assist in the five-goal thriller.
Chinedu Obasi (Schalke) He was offered a cameo role by Coach Roberto Di Matteo as Schalke defeated Hertha Berlin 2-0 in the German Bundesliga. He came on for Eric Maxim with about five minutes left to the end of the encounter. The game was his third appearance of the season.
Anthony Ujah (Cologne): Nigerian forward Anthony Ujah was left on the bench for 90 minutes as his side Cologne beat Borussia Dortmund 2-1 at home. Ujah, who has played five times in the Bundesliga so far this term, has a goal to his name.
Joel Obi (Inter) got a starter’s shirt in the four-goal thriller between Inter Milan and Napoli. The Super Eagles fringe player has been frozen out of the Nerazurri squad since his loan return from FC Parma but was surprisingly given 54th minute of action in the game which ended 2-2.
Ogenyi Onazi (Lazio): Nigerian midfielder Ogenyi Onazi was a 58th minute substitute for Stefano Mauri in Lazio’s 2-0 win against hosts Fiorentina. Onazi had provided an assist in his side’s 3-2 win against Sassuolo two weeks ago.
Efe Ambrose (Celtic): Super Eagles defender Efe Ambrose was left on the bench in Celtic’s 5-0 away win against Ross County.
Ambrose, who was also left out of the Eagles’ 3-1 win against Sudan on Wednesday, has eight appearances under his belt for the Scottish champions.
Emmanuel Emenike (Fenerbahce): Super Eagles striker Emmanuel Emenike was withdrawn in the 61st minute for Hasan Kaldirim as Fenbache lost 2-1 to rivals Galatasaray. The game was Emenike’s fifth, scoring one goal so far.
Michael Babatunde (Volyn): Injury plagued Super Eagles forward Michael Babatunde was missing in action as Volyn lost 6-2 to Shakhtar Donetsk. He also did not feature in the AFCON qualifiers against Sudan because of injury.
