The daunting task of unearthing fresh talents that will return Nigeria to her glory days on the tracks is finally looking up nicely as corporate bodies in the country are beginning to show more interest in helping the ‘sleeping sports’.
For the first time in the history of the country, an Athletics Track Club cum Sports Media and Management company, (Making of Champions, MOC) has received support from major sponsors.
MoC announced that they have tied varying sponsorship deals with three notable companies; Eroton, Midwestern and Notore.
The sports outfit said its partnership with the three companies would go a long way in turning around the nation’s athletics fortunes.
The MoC Founder/CEO, Bambo Akani, revealed that Eroton Exploration and Production Company Limited will be its lead sponsor for the 2017 Athletics season, following the company’s agreement to sponsor MoC’s Track Club in Port Harcourt for one year.
“I would like to announce Eroton Exploration and Production Company as the lead sponsors for Making of Champions in 2017. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank two more new sponsors for the 2017 Athletics Season.
“Midwestern Oil and Gas have agreed to sponsor our critically acclaimed MoC Media Team to continue covering Nigerian athletes at the top competitions all across the nation, while Notore is sponsoring MoC Track Club in Lagos, which has been led by our Head Coach in Lagos for the last 2 years, Olympic Medallist Deji Aliu,” Mr. Akani said.
Speaking on behalf of Eroton, Max-Ebibai noted that the company decided to sponsor MoC’s Athletics Track Club in Port-Harcourt as part of its commitment to positively improve the lives of Nigerians through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme.
On their part, Notore Chemicals say they are signing up with MoC to ensure that athletes managed by the club have the best conditions to flourish in their careers. The company’s representative, Ngozi Mba said:
“During the 2017 Athletics Season, Notore’s Sponsorship of MoC Track Cub Lagos will support the travel for their athletes to competitions across Nigeria, as they strive to represent and do the nation proud at international competitions.”
In the same vein, Midwestern Oil and Gas Company will sponsor the MoC media team to both local and international trips as they report on all Athletics competitions that Nigerian athletes will be participating in this season.
