Four-time champion, Rafael Nadal will on Saturday take on two-time winner Novak Djokovic in the Madrid Open semi-finals after the Spaniard saw off David Goffin on Friday.
Fourth seed Nadal beat the Belgian ninth seed 7-6 (7-3) 6-2.
On his part, Djokovic earlier had a walk-over when Kei Nishikori withdrew with a wrist injury.
In the other half of the draw, Uruguay’s Pablo Cuevas will play Borna Coric or Dominic Thiem.
In the women’s competition, third seed Simona Halep beat Anastasija Sevastova 6-2 6-3 in the semi-finals.
The Romanian will face France’s Kristina Mladenovic or Russian Svetlana Kuznetsova in the final.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Nadal won the last of his four Madrid titles in 2014.
