The Nigeria Beach Soccer team, the Super Sand Eagles, Tuesday night at the Eko Atlantic got off to a winning start in the CAF Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations.
The Sand Eagles beat their Egyptian counterparts 3-2 to start their quest for a third African title on a bright note.
A goal from Isiaka Olawale and a brace from Emeka Ogbonna ensured victory for the Nigerian team who over the weekend were mauled 8-3 by their Swiss counterparts in the Copa Lagos tournament.
In the other Group A clash, Cote d’Ivoire thrashed Ghana 5-0 in a largely one-sided affair.
The Ivorians will up against Nigeria in the next set of games why Ghana and Egypt will be batlling for survival having both lost their opening games.
In the other games played in the opening day of action at the Beach AFCON, Madagascar defeated Libya 9-5 in the first Group B tie before Senegal managed to secure a 2-1 win over Morocco.
Madagascar will hope to secure their second win when they take on Senegal on Wednesday while Libya face Morocco on the same day in what will be another fight for survival.
