Head Coach of Nigeria Beach Soccer national team, Isah Ejor, has opted for a healthy mix of experienced and fresh legs as he called up 12 players for the 2016 African Beach Soccer Championships slated for Lagos in December.
The second CAF Beach Soccer Cup of Nations will hold from December 13 to 18, at the Eko Atlantic Beach, Lagos.
Topping the list of invitees is long serving captain, Isiaka Olawale, Bartholomew Ibenegbu, Victor Tale, Abu Azeez and Musa Najere.
Other players invited to make their first appearance with the Sand Eagles are Joseph Osadaiye from Enyimba, Abubakar Isah Ejinya, from Confluence Beach Soccer Team, Sunday Alasco from Kada Beach Team, Gabriel Wassa and Chindeu Nwanze from Niger Tornadoes and Peter Micheal from Crown FC.
The invited players are expected on camp on Monday at the Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos.
Ejor said the early camping became necessary for the newly boys to quickly form a chemistry with the old ones adding that the team’s mission remains winning the championship and also to represent Africa in Bahamas next year.
Hosts Nigeria have been paired in Group A alongside Egypt, Ghana and Ivory Coast.
The 2016 Africa Beach Soccer Cup of Nations, also known as the 2016 CAF Beach Soccer Championship, will determine the best beach soccer nation in Africa and doubles as a qualification event for the 2017 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup, with the two finalists progressing to the finals in the Bahamas.
