The Nigerian men’s basketball team, D’Tigers, are on the cusp of history after their awesome display against Croatia who they beat 90-77 to record their first win in the basketball event of the Olympics.
The Nigeria men are billed to face host Brazil in their last group game and victory either ways will see D’Tigers enter the record books.
At the moment no African team has won two games in the men’s basketball event at the Olympics thus meaning Nigeria can be the first.
More importantly, D’Tigers has the chance of being the first African team to make it pass the group stage if they beat Brazil but they will have to hope that Lithuania does them the favour of beating Croatia in another pairing in the group.
It was pleasing to see the Nigerian team led in all quarters of the match against Croatia and it would be more pleasing to see that momentum sustained against Brazil on Monday night.
