Another Nigerian power lifter, Esther Oyema, has set a new world record at the ongoing All Africa Games in Brazzaville, Congo.
Competing in the Women’s up to 55kg category, Ms Oyema lifted 133kg to win gold and a new world record to her name.
Her feat came a day after another Nigerian, Yakubu Adesokan, set the pace with a record-breaking performance in his event on Tuesday.
Adesokan in the Men’s up to 49kg category lifted a massive 182.5kg to win gold medal for Team Nigeria.
Meanwhile, Ejike Lucy got bronze in Women’s up to 55kg category, while Egyptian lifter Omar Fatma claimed silver.
Nearly 100 athletes from 20 countries will compete in the IPC Powerlifting event as part of the 2015 All African Games.
