Former World and Olympic Champion, Maurice Green, has arrived the oil-rich city of Warri, Delta State, ahead of Friday’s 2015 CAA Grand Prix and the Warri Relays billed for the Warri City Stadium.
The Head of Media for the Athletics Federation of Nigeria, Olukayode Thomas, told PREMIUM TIMES that Green, who is the Sprints/Relay Coach for Nigeria, came in from America alongside a couple of athletes that would be competing in the one-day Athletics Meet.
“Maurice Green arrived yesterday with cream of Nigerian athletes like Olivia Ekpone, Gloria Asunmu and others for the Warri Relays and CAA Grand Prix fixed for Friday,” he said.
Previously fixed for May 2015, the Athletics Federation of Nigeria announced that mouth-watering cash prizes are up for grabs at the 2015 CAA Grand Prix/Warri Relays.
PREMIUM TIMES gathered that events have been divided into premium, classic and promotional events.
There would also be a category for International Relays as well as the Secondary School Relays organisers hinted.
The National Events for the meet include: Male; 200m, 110mH, Shot Put, Javelin Throw and Female; 200m, Triple Jump, High Jump.
