The top two teams on the English Premier League table, Chelsea and Manchester City, on Wednesday night confirmed their ratings with big wins over Tottenham Hotspurs and Sunderland FC respectively.
While Chelsea produced a flawless display as they pounded their West London rivals, Spurs 3-0, City continued in their rich vein of form securing a 4-1 win over Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.
Despite the absence of Chelsea’s top scorer, Diego Costa, Jose Mourinho’s men showed they have other men equal to the task. The Blues had goals on the night from the boots of Eden Hazard, Didier Drogba and Loic Remy.
For Manchester City, a brace from Sergio Aguero , and a goal each from Jovetic and Zabeleta was more than enough to seal another win for the Citizens.
In other games, Arsenal had to rely on a late strike from Alexis Sanchez to secure a lone goal win over Southampton.
Everton and Hull City settled for a 1-1 draw at Goodison Park.
With Wednesday’s result, Chelsea keep their six-point cushion as they have now amassed 36 points from 14 games while City are second with 30 points from same amount of games
