Enyimba International are now level on points with Enugu Rangers on the Nigeria Premier League table as the Aba Landlords on Sunday evening recorded an emphatic 2-0 victory over their fierce Oriental rivals.
A goal in each half of the game courtesy of Rasaq Adegbite made sure that the Aba fans that thronged the Aba International stadium in their hundreds return home with smiles on their faces.
Former Enyimba gaffer, Coach Okey Emordi, now with Rangers had promised to surprise the Peoples Elephants in his first return to Aba since after joining the flying antelopes but it was not to be for coach Emordi who was voted Africa’s best coach in 2005.
On his part, Enyimba sole administrator, Felix Ayansi-Agwu had earlier pointed out that his team will avenge the 1-0 defeat suffered in the reverse fixture during the earlier stages of the season.
With Sunday’s victory, Enyimba now has 46 points same as the Flying Antelopes but are behind due to an inferior goal difference.
In other venues, Dolphins of Porthacourt ensured that they get all three points at stake as they defeated ABS FC by 2-0.
While the last fixture of the day, relegation threatened Ocean Boys FC gave themselves some hope of survival as they edged Lobi stars of Markudi by 2-1.
