Atletico Madrid star, Fernando Torres, is top on the list of 20 players selected by Coach Diego Simeone for Tuesday’s GOTV Max Cup challenge against the Super Eagles’ B team in Uyo.
Torres officially played his last competitive game for the La Liga giants on Sunday, scoring two goals. But he is still available for the Europa League champions as they make a historic trip to play their first game ever in this part of the world.
Already, organisers have assured that fans coming to watch the Super Eagles play Atletico Madrid at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo are guaranteed adequate security in and around the match venue.
The match billed for May 22 is an international friendly tournament organised by MultiChoice Nigeria.
Martin Mabutho, General Manager, Sales and Marketing, MultiChoice Nigeria, explained that top-notch security arrangements have been put in place to ensure that fans are protected in and around the stadium.
“Our customers and fans alike have nothing to fear, as are working with government and private security officers to ensure safety for everyone who comes to the Godswill Akpabio stadium. As such, we are calling on football fans in Uyo and environs to come and watch the Super Eagles play Atletico Madrid in what promises to be a historic match,” he said.
Atletico Madrid won the Europa League for the third time last Wednesday and finished second in the LaLiga on Sunday
The match will also air live on SuperSport Select 1 on DStv and GOtv at 6 pm.
