Simy scores again
Simeon [Simy] Nwankwo was at it again on Sunday as he helped Crotone secure a 2-2 home draw against a Champions League-chasing Lazio team. Nwankwo scored the equaliser in the 29t minute with a stooping header – his seventh goal in 22 league appearances. Nwankwo scored five of his seven goals in April.
The 26-year-old gangling Nigerian striker had 26 touches of the ball and two attempts on goal, from which he scored one. He also provided 15 passes and got over 70 per cent of those passes right.
Musa finishes on a high
Going back on loan to CSKA Moscow is the best decision Ahmed Musa could have taken in guaranteeing himself a place in the Super Eagles team that will play in the Russia 2018 World Cup. Musa bundled home the first goal of the match in the ninth minute and provided the assist for Vitinho to grab the winner on 61 minutes. He also fashioned a scoring chance in the 44th minute but the goalkeeper made the save with his knees. Musa finished the season on a high – leading CSKA to second place on the table and UEFA Champions League qualification, scoring six times in 10 league appearances.
Moses Simon scores on the final day
Eagles’ winger, Moses Simon ended his 132-day goal drought with the winner against Anderlecht on the last day of the season. It was his sixth goal in 28 league appearances for the former Belgian champions. The goal was scored on 66 minutes and it was a controlled volley on the run after a delightful run and cross down the left flank by Roman Yaremchuk.
Moses was taken off in the 93rd minute to rapturous applause in what could be his last game for the club he joined in 2014. His compatriot, Anderson Esiti also featured in the game and lasted the entire match.
