Alex Iwobi and his Arsenal teammates are out of the League Cup in England.

Southampton thrashed Arsenal 2-0 at the Emirates stadium on Wednesday to send Iwobi and his colleagues out of the 2016/17 EFL Cup campaign and end the Gunners’ unbeaten run.

Long-range strikes from Jordy Clasie and Ryan Bertrand sent the Saints through to the semi final of the League Cup after 20 years.

Arsenal had already seen off Southampton once during that undefeated run, back in September in the league, but they failed to replicate same in the EFL Cup game.

Meanwhile, in the last quarter final pairing, Manchester United finally exerted themselves, beating West Ham 4-1 at the Old Trafford.

Just over the weekend Mourinho’s team were held to a 1-1 draw by the Hammers.

The complete list of semi finalists for the EFL CUP are Hull City, Liverpool, Manchester United and Southampton.
