The Nigeria U-20 Women’s team are back to winning ways after the humiliating defeat they suffered in the hands of Japan on Sunday.

The Falconets on Wednesday came from behind to record their first win in Papua New Guinea 2016 by beating Canada 3-1 in Port Moresby.

The victory by the Nigerian ladies has brightened their chance to qualify for the quarter-finals.

Nigeria next face top-of-the-table, Spain, in Group B, while Canada next meet Japan on November 20.

Peter Dedevbo’s wards had come into the game low on confidence from being at the receiving end of a 6-0 thumping by Japan in their opening game.

Chinaza Uchendu from a well taken spot-kick got the Falconet’s first goal.

The duo of Joy Bokiri and Chiwendu Ihezuo helped seal victory for Nigeria on Wednesday.
