The Chelsea duo of Victor Moses and John Obi Mikel were the goal scorers as the Super Eagles secured an impressive 3-1 win over Algeria in Saturday’s World Cup qualifying match inside the Godswill Akpabio stadium.
Moses, who returned to the national team after missing the game against Zambia, scored the first goal for the Super Eagles in the 26th minute before Mikel doubled the lead with three more minutes left in the first half.
Though Algeria pulled one back in the second half through Nabil Bentaleb, there was no coming back for the North Africans as Moses sealed victory with another goal in the 90th minute.
With the win, the Super Eagles remain in the driver’s seat in their World Cup qualifying group; having secured the maximum six points from two games.
Algeria on their part are now rock bottom following the 1-1 draw played between Cameroon and Zambia.
Cameroon with two points are second while Zambia are third with one point and a better goals difference compared to Algeria who also have just a point from two matches.
