Super Eagles defender, Leon Balogun, has declared that he is not delighted with his latest injury setback.
Balogun, who plays for Bundesliga side FSV Mainz, was hurriedly hauled off in Saturday’s game against Bayer 04 Leverkusen.
A statement on Mainz official website on Monday revealed that Balogun will miss at least the next two games for the club.
“The centre-back had to be substituted just ten minutes into the game and will miss the upcoming Europa League fixture against Gabala FC, as well as the weekend’s Bundesliga game against VfL Wolfsburg,” the statement read.
On his part, Balogun said while he is not happy with his latest injury he will take solace in the fact that he won’t be away for too long.
“Not delighted about my injury at all! It’s part of the game though. Good thing about it, I’ll be back real soon” Balogun twitted moments after the update from his German club.
It is not clear if Balogun who has been diagnosed of a muscle strain will be considered fit enough for the crucial 2018 World Cup qualifying match away to Zambia by next weekend.
Balogun had played all 90 minutes of the first four Bundesliga games before his untimely substitution on nine minutes by Alexander Hack over the weekend.
He was equally impressive during Nigeria’s last game against Tanzania; forming an excellent partnership with William Troost-Ekong in the heart of the Super Eagles defence.
