Kano Pillars were the biggest casualty in the Round of 32 Federation Cup games played on Wednesday in selected centres across the country.
Pillars lost 2-1 to Nigeria National League, NNL side, Prime FC in Lokoja and have thus exited the Cup competition earlier than they would have wished.
Elsewhere, Shooting Stars of Ibadan zoomed into the Round of 16 in the Federation Cup following their 3-0 win over non-league side Almar FC on Wednesday at the Agege stadium in Lagos.
Two goals from Sunday Adetunji and a late second half strike from Joy Olubodun were more than enough as Coach Gbenga Ogunbote secured another good result for the Oluyole Warriors who have suddenly burst to life since his return from Giwa FC.
At the Aper Aku stadium in Markurdi, Rivers United were ruthless against Kaduna United, thrashing the Crocodile Boys 4-0 to also book passage into the Round of 16.
Guy Kuemian netted a first half brace while the duo of Onyekachi Okafor and Chinonso Okonkwo also scored spectacular goals in the second half to complete a good day in the office for Stanley Eguma’s charges who now march into the round of 16 on the back of a brilliant win.
