Wikki Tourists have gone top on the Nigeria Professional Football League table after romping to a 3-1 win over Enyimba in their rescheduled game on Wednesday at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa stadium in Bauchi.
Before Wednesday’s outing, Enyimba had been unbeaten in nine games and were looking like they could stretch it to 10 games having held their host to a 1-1 draw till the 88th minute.
However, the resilience of Enyimba was finally punctured in the 88th minute when Idris Guda’s well-struck effort from a distance gave the hosts the lead at the death.
The host consolidated on their lead in the 90th minute when Godwin Obaje stepped up and scored for Wikki from the penalty spot after he was tripped down by an Enyimba defender.
With the three points earned from the Enyimba win, Wikki now have 31 points from 18 games and have pushed Rivers United to second spot because of the better goals difference.
In the other rescheduled game also played on Wednesday, El-kanemi Warriors continued their fine form at the Maiduguri Stadium; beating visiting Enugu Rangers 2-0 to move out of the relegation zone.
