Enugu Rangers cling on to top spot in the Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL, having recorded a 4-1 win over Ikorodu United in their Match day 17 clash at the Nnamdi Azikwe Stadium in Enugu.
The Flying Antelopes have endured a bad patch in their recent outings but they turned on style on Sunday to consolidate on their number one position on the NPFL log.
Francis Nnedum got the first goal for Rangers on Sunday in the 11th minute. Tope Olusesi increased the lead for the hosts after combining well with Chisom Egbuchulam.
Rangers were three goals up in the 21st minute as Olusesi completed his brace but Moses Ebiye pulled one back for Ikorodu Utd barely two minutes after.
While some thought the visitors would muster a comeback, it was never to be as Rangers instead extended their lead in the second half through Obinna Nwobodo who volleyed in the fourth goal for the hosts with five minutes left on the clock.
With the win, Rangers have 31 points from 17 games
In other centres, Shooting Stars’ poor season continued as they were whitewashed 4-0 in Bauchi by Wikki Tourist. The Oluyole Warriors are now deeper in the relegation waters as they are now third from the bottom.
In Kano, Pillars were forced to a barren draw while Abia Warriors and Akwa United both secured lone goal wins over Rivers United and Nasarawa United respectively.
