FC Ifeanyi Ubah are now top on the standings on the Nigeria Professional Football League after securing a 2-0 win over Plateau United on Wednesday in Nnewi.
The big spenders scored a goal in the first half and another in the dying moments of the second half to secure maximum points that have now seen them overtake former table toppers, Enugu Rangers.
Ivorian Pascal Seka scored the first goal of the day for FC Ifeanyi Ubah as he calmly converted the spot kick awarded to his side before substitute, Tamen Medrano, sealed victory with a shot from 20 yards less than fives minutes after he came on.
With the victory, FC Ifeanyi Ubah now have 19 points from 10 games, one more than Enugu Rangers who were forced to a 1-1 draw by MFM FC in Lagos.
Rangers actually scored first in Lagos before they were pegged back by the hard-fighting MFM FC team.
With solitary point from Wednesday’s outing, Rangers have dropped to second place on the log while MFM FC stay in 6th position with 18 and 16 points respectively from 10 games.
Elsewhere, Abia Warriors extended their unbeaten run in the Nigeria Professional Football League to 10 games as they went to Uyo to stun Akwa United 1-2.
In Lokoja, Niger Tornadoes and Sunshine Stars played out a pulsating 2-2 draw while in Ibadan, Shooting Stars halted their losing streak with a 2-0 win over Ikorodu United
