The Nigeria U-17 Women’s team, the Flamingos are very much on course to qualify for the World Cup billed for Jordan later this year after they hammered their South African counterparts 6-0 at the Abuja National Stadium on Saturday, in their final round, first leg qualifier.
The Flamingos scored all six goals in Saturday’s encounter in the first half to now hold a healthy lead going into the second leg billed for South Africa in a fortnight.
Four goals from the total tally came from the boots of Captain Rasheedat Ajibade and the other two came from Yetunde Fajobi.
Nigeria has participated at all previous FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup final competitions, from New Zealand 2008 to Trinidad and Tobago 2010, Azerbaijan 2012 and Costa Rica 2014.
The team reached the quarter finals in the last three editions.
Only three spots are been reserved for Africa at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Jordan.
The other qualifiers to be decided this weekend will see Ghana facing Morocco while Cameroon take on Egypt.
