Super Eagles interim Coach, Samson Siasia, has expressed reservations over the performance of home-based Eagles in their latest test match against National League side, Katsina United, at the Abuja National stadium Thursday.
The home eagles had lost their earlier test match against their U-23 counterparts and they were expected to give a better display in Thursday’s but could only muster a 0-0 draw, but even Oghenekaro Etebo lost second half penalty.
In his post-match analysis, Siasia did not hide his disappointment even as threatened that the players should shape up or ship out.
“I am very, very disappointed with the performance of these players. They did not play like a national team at all, I did not see any sign of what I have taught them these past four days. I have told them my feelings. It is left for them to rise to the occasion or get dropped. They are a disappointment if you ask me,” a disappointed Siasia told reporters after the match.
“We have told them that they must raise their game or leave camp when they resume training next week after their clubs engagement this weekend. It is either they play to the national team standard or they will not follow us to Kaduna or I will be forced to rely on all foreign based players we invited.”
Siasia, who doubles as coach of the national Under-23 team continued, “I have released them to their respective clubs for this weekend’s games and by the time they return on Sunday, it will be time to eliminate those who fail to measure up by dropping them from the Kaduna game against Egypt.
Nigeria needs to get a least four points from the upcoming games against Egypt to get back on track in their quest to qualify for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.
