Reigning Nigeria Premier League champions, Enyimba International, Friday in Kampala started their Champions League campaign on a losing note as they were piped 1-0 by their hosts, Vipers FC of Uganda.
William Wadri who came in as a substitute for Vipers FC scored the only goal of the first leg preliminary round clash in the 73rd minute.
Enyimba did have a couple of chances in Friday’s game which was played at the Nakivubo Stadium but they failed to make it count.
Captain Chinedu Udoji, Christian Pyagbara and Andrew Abalogu all had chances of their own to score for the Peoples Elephants but they could not bury the ball in the net thus giving their opponent a slim advantage going into the second leg.
The second leg will played in Port Harcourt on February 28 as Enyimba’s original home ground, the Enyimba International Stadium in Aba is under major renovation.
