Warri Wolves striker, Gbolahan Salami, has emerged top scorer in the Nigerian Premier League for the 2014/15 season.
Salami finished the season with 17 goals having added two more to his initial tally of 15 in the Monday morning clash with FC Taraba.
The two goals from Salami helped Warri Wolves confirmed their place in next season’s CAF Champions League with a 5-1 bashing of their opponents.
Salami scored the opening goal from the penalty spot before hitting a rebound from another saved penalty to put the icing on the cake for the Seasiders.
For his efforts, Salami will be the recipient of the maiden Rashidi Yekini Highest Goal Scorer Award instituted by the Nigeria Professional Football League in Yekini’s honor.
Tunde Adeniji, who fired blank in Sunday’s barren draw against Champions, Enyimba, in Lagos on Sunday finished behind Salami with 16 goals.
It is yet to be seen if Salami, who is captain of the home-based Eagles team, will stay on in the Nigerian Premier League or will seek greener pastures outside the country.
