Super Eagles in-form striker, Odion Ighalo, is in the frame to be named the best player in the English Premier League [EPL] for the month of September.
The 26-year old scored three goals for Watford in September – one against Swansea on September 12, and a brace against Newcastle on September 19.
Those three goals won six points for his side in September and allows for some breathing space to the relegation zone – after their promotion from the Championship.
On the Watford official site was written, “CONGRATULATIONS to Watford striker Odion Ighalo, who has been nominated for the Barclays Premier League September Player of the Month award.”
Also shortlisted are Leicester city’s Jamie Vardy, West Ham’s Dimitri Payet, Tottenham’s Hugo Lloris and Manchester United’s Anthony Martial and Daley Blind.

Ighalo, who has scored five of the six goals scored by Watford in the Premiership paid tribute to his captain, Troy Deeney for assisting him for his goals.
“Troy’s [Deeney] assisted me for three of the four goals I’ve scored this season,” the Nigerian striker told Hornets PlayerHD.
And he added that working with the Watford captain in the Championship is now paying dividends in the EPL.
“But we didn’t only click now, since last season we played together up-front in the Championship and we were playing well and working hard together then.”
Ighalo has also taken his potency to the Super Eagles – scoring twice in his last four matches.
The last Nigerian player to win the Player of the Month award was Osaze Odemwingie, who first won the February 2012 award, when he was playing for West Brom.
Odemwingie won the award on two other occasions.
The first Nigerian to win the award was Austin Okocha, in November 2003.
