The Super Eagles of Nigeria returned to winning ways Sunday night in Brussels as they thrashed the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon, 3-0, in a friendly match played at the 11,000 capacity Stade Monde Matchens.
Efe Ambrose, Moses Simon, and substitute Odion Ighalo were the goal scorers for the Eagles who gave a better display compared to what they offered last Thursday when they were piped 2-0 by the Leopards of Congo DR.
The Eagles scored a goal in the first half and added two more in the second 45 minutes to record a morale boosting win over one of their fiercest rivals on the continent.
Interestingly it was Ambrose, who was a last minute addition to the Nigeria squad following the injury to Kenneth Omeruo, that opened the floor when he headed home from Mikel Obi’s free kick.
Nigeria kept the slim one-goal advantage into the second half and the tally was increased on the hour-mark through Moses Simon.
While it was looking like Nigeria will settle for a 2-0 win, substitute Ighalo who was brought on as a replacement for Emmanuel Emenike put the icing on the cake as he headed in the third goal for the night.
The victory has further helped Nigeria’s better head-to-head record against the Cameroonians.
