The Tanzanian national team, Taifa Stars, has concluded plans for a friendly game against Oman on Monday August 24, as part of their preparations for the crucial 2017 African Cup of Nations qualifier against the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
The Tafia Stars were whipped 3-0 in their first game in the AFCON qualifying series by Egypt, and they are looking to bounce back with the game against Nigeria on September 5 in Dar es Salam.
The itinerary of the Tafia Stars indicate that they will leave Dar es Salaam this weekend on Saturday 22 August for a week long camp in Turkey to prepare for the clash against the Super Eagles, but will have a stopover in Muscat for the friendly match before going on to Europe, as confirmed on the official Tanzanian Football Federation website.
While in Istanbul, Turkey, Taifa Stars are also listed to play two friendly matches against unnamed opponents before ending the weeklong camp and then flying straight back home to take on three-time African champions Nigeria on Saturday 5 September.
The post on the TFF website notes that the team’s coach, Boniface Mkwassa, will name his team for the trip to Turkey before the end of this week, with 22 players, who will also take part in the game against Nigeria expected to make the cut.
Meanwhile, the federation has confirmed that Adi Yusuf, who plies his trade with English side Mansfield Town will not be joining the team in Turkey as had earlier announced.been communicated.
