Manchester United have been given renewed hope in their attempts to sign Sergio Ramos, after it was revealed Monday the Real Madrid captain has not signed a new deal with Real Madrid.
Van Gaal had stated in his last briefing that transfer talk regarding the Spanish defender was unfavourable following a speculation that Sergio was close to signing a new contract for Real Madrid till 2020 summer.
But Spanish radio station, Cadena Ser, said Monday that there was no agreement between the defender and the La Liga club.
Reports say the Spanish giants and Ramos failed to reach a compromise.
David De Gea has been the subject of sustained interest from the Spanish giants this summer, but United said they will not discuss a deal unless Ramos was included.
With Louis Van Gaal reportedly ready to sell David De Gea, a swap deal, could be done.
