The current joint highest goal scorer in the Nigerian Premier League, Peter Ebimobowei, has vowed to keep scoring despite his club’s position on the league table.
The 20-year-old Bayelsa United forward told PREMIUM TIMES that he has no goals target this season.
“I only want to keep scoring as many goals as I can in the league. I have not set out any goals target for myself,” he said on Sunday. “Even if I have any more targets I will keep it to myself, not for the public consumption. That’s between me and my God.”
Being the joint highest goal scorer in the league with 13 goals – without any penalty – the striker said he did not feel bad not getting an invitation to the Super Eagles like his colleagues in the league, Osagona Ighodalo and Gbolahan Salami.
“Well, on that, I want to say there is time for everything and everyone. I will keep doing my own thing,” he said. “I don’t feel bad at all. Only God knows the best. I want to thank God for his help and my team mates for their cooperation, they have been so helpful.”
Ebimowomei shares the highest goal scorer title with Ighodalo of Rangers International FC of Enugu.
His club, Bayelsa United, currently sit on the 15th spot of the 20 team Nigeria Premier League after 28 matches.
