The Chairman of the Nigerian Women League board, Dilichukwu Onyedinma, has said that the Super Falcons are prepared for the 2014 Edition of the African Women’s Championship, AWC.
She also said that they have enough time in their hands to prepare for the tournament which will commence on October 11 in Namibia.
She told PREMIUM TIMES in Abuja on Wednesday that the Falcons are not thinking of anything but victory.
“They are fully prepared to go to Namibia, we can’t think of any obstacle right now,” she said. “We have been preparing, we have played our qualifying matches very well and conquered, we just need little touches”.
Speaking on why Pelican Stars FC players are yet to resume to the Abuja camp, Ms. Onyedinma said they have more than five players in the national team permitting the club a waiver to keep the girls.
“The rules state that if you have more than five players in the team, the club can get a waiver to play their matches then the player can join later”.
“I have faith in the younger girls, because they are committed, blessed and enjoy what they do,” she said.
The Super Falcons won the African Women Championship three times, in 1998, 2002 and 2006.
The AWC tournament will hold between October 11 and 25 in Namibia.
Nigeria is in Group A of the tournament with host Namibia, Zambia and Cote d’Ivoire.
