Manchester United finally got their first win in the EPL this season under new manager Louis Van Gaal. They did so in style crushing Queens Park Rangers, 4-0, at the Old Trafford on Sunday.
Summer signing from Real Madrid, Angel Di Maria, opened the flood gates of goals as United fans finally got the smiles back on their faces after a miserable start to the season.
To show intent for an outright win, United had a half-chance inside four minutes when Juan Mata fed a cross to Wayne Rooney, but Rio Ferdinand was across to clear the danger in what was a quick start from the home team..
United could not be stopped in the 24thminute, when Angel Di Maria floated a curling free kick into the bottom corner.
United had their second after 36 minutes when Herrera struck the ball into the bottom corner following a blocked effort from Rooney.
Just before half time, Rooney made it three for United as the Red Devils began to show the traits of their former invincible self.
Rooney had a go at goal 30 minutes from time, but curled the ball too high, his effort came after Mata had increased United’s tally to 4-0.
There was a round of applause when Radamel Falcao came on for his home debut after 67 minutes, replacing Mata in the process.
Though the Colombian did not score, he showed flashes of brilliance suggesting he will come good in the days ahead.
