The Nigerian Female U-17 team, Flamingoes, got a confidence boost as they prepared for Azerbaijan on Friday when they tromped, SiaOne Academy, 6-0.

The warm up match, which was played at the training pitch of the Abuja National Stadium, saw the Flamingoes scoring two goals in the first half and four goals in the second half.

The SiaOne lads, even after a mouth-battering from their owner and coach, Samson Siasia, said they were happy to have played the Flamingoes who are due to feature at the FIFA U-17 World Cup in September in Azerbaijan.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Sports, Godfrey Gaiya, has sent a goodwill message to the Flamingoes, urging them to do the nation proud in Azerbaijan.

Mr. Gaiya told the Media Officer of the team, Gracious Akujobi, that he regretted he could not personally come to bid the team farewell as they left for their training tour of Portugal on Monday. He promised to be in Azerbaijan to cheer the team to victory.

“Please tell your Coach and players that I cannot make it personally to come and wish them farewell, as I had planned, because I’m travelling now; but I will definitely be with you girls at the World Cup proper in Azerbaijan” Gaiya said.
