Sunshine Stars of Akure are now second in Group A

Sunshine Stars of Nigeria scored a 2-1 away victory against Aso Chlef of Algeria on Saturday to consolidate its position in group A of the 2012 CAF Champions League.

The victory brings the Nigerian club’s total points to 7 after the fourth match day.

However, Sunshine Stars remain behind group leader and title holder Esperance of Tunisia, which will have a total of 12 points, if its 2-0 victory over Etoile du Sahel, in a local derby in Sousse, is upheld, as it surely will.

Etoile fans invaded the pitch in anger after Esperance scored the second goal in the 71st minute, forcing the match to be abandoned.

Etoile remains in third place with 4 points, while Aso Chlef is at the bottom with no point.

Only the group leader and the runner up will advance to the semi-finals, after the conclusion of the league phase.
