Super Eagles camp opens August 19 for Liberia

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has tentatively scheduled theresumption of camping for the Super Eagles, ahead of the Nations Cup qualifying match with Liberia, for Sunday, August 19, 2012.

Media Officer for the Eagles, Ben Alaiya, quotes team’s secretary, Dayo Achor, as saying that the date was picked with all logistics and other considerations taken note of by the NFF and the national team technical crew headed by Stephen Keshi.

The team will camp at the Bolton White Apartments in Abujaand training proper is expected to resume the following day after resumption to camp.

Indications are that the NFF is still keen at getting a friendly for the national team before the game against Liberia.

Delayed list

Meanwhile, Super Eagles Coach, Stephen Keshi is not in a hurry torelease the names of players that will prosecute the 2013 AFCON qualifier against Liberia.

Mr. Alaiya explained that Keshi will make public the list before the camp opens ahead of the Nations cup qualifier on September 8.

“Till date, Keshi has kept his list close to his chest, especially as his four assistants have been scouting around the globe for Nigerian-born players for invitation to the game and future games of the national team”, he said.

The team will resume camp on August 19, and Alaiya says the list willbe made public just few days to the date.

It is not clear if the Big Boss will want to keep faith in the local players or will be gunning for the country’s foreign legion.
