18th National Sports Festival: Lagos unveils Logo, mascot and website

The unique icons for the 18th National Sports festival to be hosted by Lagos state was Thursday, unveiled at a colourful ceremony at the Muson Center, Onikan, Lagos.

The cream of Nigeria Sports personalities gathered to witness the unveiling of the official logo, mascot and website for the 18th National Sports Festival.

The governor of the host state, Babatunde Fashola, who incidentally was celebrating his 49th birthday on the day, said that the launching of the unique icons for the Sports festival will go a long way in increasing the level of awareness in the minds of not just Lagos residents but people across Nigeria.

“This is another landmark achievement as we work towards delivering our promise of hosting the best National Sports festival ever,” Mr. Fasola said.

The governor added that even though he will be willing to host and win the biennial sporting event, he will be better fulfilled to see the Games turn out fresh talents that could take over from the likes of Chioma Ajunwa, Chidi Imoh, Bose Kaffo, Jay Jay Okocha amongst others.

Also present at the unveiling ceremony was the Minister of Sports, Bolaji Abdulahi, as well as the Director General of the National Sports Commission, Patrick Ekeji. 

The duo thanked the governor as well as the Local Organising committee for the good job done so far and assured of their support to see that the games is successfully hosted.

The official mascot for the festival was nicknamed ‘Lasgidi’, a moniker for Lagos state. The official website for the games is www.eko2012ng.com
