The Super Eagles of Nigeria will on Friday round off preparations for their make or mar game against Rwanda, with a light workout at the U.J. Esuene Stadium in Calabar, Premium Times has been informed.
Head Coach Stephen Keshi has been sweating it out with his players and said he is satisfied with the level of fitness of the team ahead of the duel against the East African opponent.
Team doctor, Ibrahim Gyaran, while reviewing the fitness of the team said the Eagles have a 100 per cent fitness level.
“It’s quite instructive, because we are just coming from an away game and usually away games are fraught with injuries but I’m happy to reveal that none of our players is in any health condition that will prevent him from featuring for the team on Saturday,” the doctor said.
Go for goals
Meanwhile, Former NFA Chairman, Ibrahim Galadima, has urged the Eagles to go for an outright and massive win against Rwanda, this Saturday in Calabar in a Nations Cup qualifier.
Eagles Media Officer, Ben Alaiya, quotes Galadima as saying that one of the ways by which the team can play under less pressure is to score an early goal in the game against Rwanda.
“I acknowledge what the NFF and Keshi are trying to do by raising a new team but we must avoid the type of pressure that the team put all football lovers in the game against Namibia, by going for early goals and I know we have the quality of players to do exactly that,” he said.
Similarly, Cross River state Sports Commissioner, Patrick Ugbe also urged Nigerians from all works of life to ensure that the U.J. Esuene Stadium is filled to capacity with cheering fans on Saturday.
“On behalf of His Excellency, Senator Liyel Imoke, I urge all Nigerians to come out and back the team as we seek a return to the Nations Cup after failing to make the last edition”, he said
