Mr Haruna Gogu, a cameraman with Gombe United suffered a deep cut in the middle of his head in the violence that ensued on Saturday evening in front of the Dipo Dina Stadium Ijebu Ode, few minutes after the Sunshine Stars vs Gombe United week 30 Nigeria Premier league game.
Though Sunshine Stars who were the home team won the match 2-0, a heated argument by fans of both sides outside the mainbowl of the stadium resulted in a fracas that was however promptly quelled by the policemen on ground at the stadium.
Gombe officials alleged that the culprit that hit Mr. Haruna; who was a sorry sight when his head was been stitched is one of the Sunshine supporters
“We have already dropped a protest letter with the match commissioner even though he refused to endorse it. Obviously it was one of their fans that hit our cameraman on the head, they defeated us 2-0 and we have accepted our fate, why should they now be fighting and beating our players an officials. As we are going to Minna we will drop a copy of our protest letter at the NPL office, this act must not go unpunished” Ibrahim kwaranda team manger for Gombe United fumed.

In other venues, Shooting Stars’ upward movement on the Nigeria Premier League table continued on Saturday as the Oluyole warriors recorded their first away win of the season and indeed in close to three years as they recorded a 2-1 win over now relegated Ocean Boys FC.

The biggest win of the day was in Minna where Niger Tonardoes pummeled Kaduna United 4-1 to move away from the relegation zone. Also Sharks of Port Hacourt and Jigawa Golden Stars got 3-1 victories over Rising Stars and Dolphins FC respectively.
