Super Falcons win in Harare

Coach Kadiri Ikhana started his reign as the Super Falcons coach on a winning note Sunday afternoon as he led his wards to a 2-0 victory over the Mighty Warriors of Zimbabwe.

The game,  played at the Rufaro Stadium in Harare, is the first official match for Ikhana and the first leg of the 2012 African Women’s Championship (AWC) qualifying match.

Goals off the boots of Evelyn Nwabuiku (Rivers Angels)  and old war horse Stella Mbachu ensured that Super Falcons remain on course to qualify for the AWC, a tournament they have won a record six times.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian ladies are billed to depart from Harare for South Africa where they are billed to face the country’s national women’s team, Banyana Banyana.

The  friendly game against South Africa’s national women’s team will take place in Rustenburg stadium on June 3rd before the Super Falcons return to Lagos on June 4th.
