CAF Champions League: Sunshine Stars off to Mali

Nigeria’s representative in the (Confederation of African Football) CAF Champions League, Sunshine Stars of Akure on Wednesday departed the shores of the country for Mali ahead of this weekend’s round of 16 CAF Champions League clash with Djioliba AC of Mali.

The Akure based team which edged out Angolan team Recrativo de Libolo to make this stage of the competition flew out from the Murtala Aiport in Lagos this morning.
Beaming with so much confidence, Sunshine players and officials are upbeat they will secure a favourable result in faraway Mali.
Sunshine goal keeper, Ocheje Moses, who was on duty when his team defeated Recreativo de Libolo 3-0 in Ijebu-ode said he hopes he can keep a another clean sheet in Mali this Saturday.

“I am fit now after I got knocked down against Akwa Utd. The team is battle ready for the game on Saturday, the team spirit is high and we are sure of picking a positive result in Mali.”

“If I am giving the chance to start the game I hope I would be able to keep a clean sheet. We conceded cheap goals against Recreativo and we have learn our lesson going into this game,” Ocheje said.

Sunshine Stars will be storming Mali with a 35-man contingent which consists of 18 players and 17 officials. The second batch of the team’s contingent will fly out on Thursday due to flight challenges.
