Teenager dies in Enugu over Barcelona

A Chelsea supporter slumped and died in Enugu on Tuesday during the European Champions League match between Chelsea of England and Barcelona of Spain.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) learnt that the teenage twin boy, identified as Chinedu Ibeabuchi, slumped in a football viewing centre when Barcelona scored their opening goal in the drawn semi-final match.

Chinedu, who lived with his mother and other family members on Marcus Garvey Street, New Haven, Enugu, was said to be a student of a secondary school in Enugu.

A lady, who identified herself as a sister to the deceased, said the family was not willing to talk about the incident but was rather concerned with his burial arrangements.

A source close to the family told NAN on Wednesday that Chinedu was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was confirmed dead.

NAN also learnt that the body had been deposited at the Eastern Nigeria Medical Centre, Enugu.

The match ended 2-2 at full-time with Chelsea advancing to the final on a 3-2 aggregate.
