Obuh invites 12 new players, decamps 10

As the country’s national U-20 team the Flying Eagles step up preparation for next month’s invitational tourney in South Africa, Coach John Obuh is beginning to ring changes in his team.

Coach Obuh has invited 12 new players including newly signed Enugu Rangers striker, Alhaji Gero, while 10 other players have been dropped.
Gero made the headlines last weekend as the former Kaduna United striker scored on his debut for Enugu Rangers against Akwa United in a Nigeria Premier League clash.
The other new call-ups include four players from Nigeria National League (NNL) Division One club Nembe City. The players are Tombiri Dina, Uche Ihuarulam, Dakar Ibiabowa and Brown Braye Okpus.
The other invitees are Adeniyi Tunde (Sunshine Stars), Christian Josiah (COD Lagos), Dan Asabe Umar (Sokoto United), Udoma Chinedu (Abia Warriors), Israel Edward Bamingo (Edwardians FC), Amos Ezechukwu, Abobo Jacob (unattached).
The players decamped are as follows – Barry Labara, Adamu Hassan, Adamu Kazim, Ijika Churchill Sidney, Sulaiman Ahmed, Sunny Ukoha, Clifford Lawson, Dagogo Charles, Lawal Mohammed and Sampson Chukwuokoli. There are now 32 players in the training camp in Abuja.
The Flying Eagles are gunning to defend the Eight-Nation Invitational Tournament they won in Cape Town last year.
This year’s edition will hold from May 24 to June 3.
The eight participating teams for this year are Nigeria, South Africa, Egypt, Brazil, Japan, Argentina, Cameroon and Ghana.
