The ancient town of Ibadan came alive Saturday evening as the darling team of the city, Shooting Stars conquered staunch rivals, Enyimba International, in the weekend’s star fixture of the Nigeria Premier League.
Mutiu Adegoke’s well taken freekick in the 87th minute of the fiercely contested match, played at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan, secured the vital win for the Oluyole Warriors.
With this victory, 3SC were able to to amass 23 points in the firsts stanza of the league and would be keen to sustain the momentum when the other half of the season gets underway in a few weeks time.
In other centres, Kano Pillars maintained their dominance over Northern neighbours, Kaduna United, as they defeated them by 3-1. Gambo Mohammed was the scorer two of the goals.
Also in Ekiti, Rising Stars made sure they did not end the first half of the league on the bottom of the table as they moved one step up having secured a 2-1 victory over Gombe United.
Elsewhere in Port Harcourt Sharks put an end to the unbeaten run of ABS FC, as they defeated the Saraki boys 2-1. The Ilorin based outfit had previously gone nine matches unbeaten.
Other matches will take place tomorrow across the country.
